Short answer: English: four papers, 200 marks (Writing 25%, Language Use and Comprehension 45%, Listening 10%, Oral 20%). Maths: two papers, 100 marks, 2 h 30 min. Science: one paper, 100 marks, 1 h 45 min. Chinese: three papers, 200 marks, oral 25%. Each subject gets an AL from 1 to 8; the PSLE Score is the sum, 4 to 32.

From marks to the PSLE Score
Each subject is graded in an Achievement Level: AL1 for 90 and above, AL2 85 to 89, AL3 80 to 84, AL4 75 to 79, AL5 65 to 74, AL6 45 to 64, AL7 20 to 44, AL8 below 20. The PSLE Score is the sum of the four, from 4 to 32 (MOE). Foundation subjects are graded A, B or C, counting as AL6, AL7 and AL8.
Using this when choosing a centre
Ask a centre how its lessons follow these papers. For Maths and Science, ask what changed in the 2026 revision. For Chinese and English, ask how much of each lesson is spoken practice, because the oral is a fifth to a quarter of the grade.
